WHO WE ARE
THE HALCYON ROOM was founded in early 2024 by actor and playwright Scott Cameron. As an actor looking for work, Scott began writing plays as vehicles for himself and performers alike to showcase their talents.
The company’s first production was the gothic horror tale BLACK SPRING which debuted at the Greater Manchester Fringe Festival in 2024. “A remarkable achievement”, read the British Theatre Guide review here.
The show brought attention to the company’s unique style of theatre and after some award nominations, followed by a short revival run due to popularity, THR took their time to prefect the next show…
In 2025, THR’s second original production ELYSIUM debuted with a sell-out run. After multiple award nominations for both productions, ELYSIUM garnered a Best Play award win at the 2025 Greater Manchester Fringe Festival gaining recognition amongst the Manchester theatre community. THR continue their pursuit of producing independent theatre and will return to the GM Fringe in 2026, but not before a brand new show scheduled for early in the year.
