WHO WE ARE
THE HALCYON ROOM was founded in early 2024 by actor and playwright Scott Cameron. As an actor looking for work, Scott began writing plays as vehicles for himself and performers alike to showcase their talents.
The company’s first production was the gothic horror tale BLACK SPRING which debuted at the Greater Manchester Fringe Festival in 2024. “A remarkable achievement”, read the British Theatre Guide review here.
The show brought attention to the company’s unique style of theatre and after some award nominations, followed by a short revival run due to popularity, THR took their time to perfect the next show…
In 2025, THR’s second original production ELYSIUM debuted with a sell-out run. After multiple award nominations for both productions, ELYSIUM garnered a Best Play award win at the 2025 Greater Manchester Fringe Festival gaining recognition amongst the Manchester theatre community. “An instant classic” - Canal St media.
In 2026, The Halcyon Room delivered their third original production THE BIRDS OF GRAVE RIVER. Another genre switch that earned another Best Play nomination and consideration for the Off West End awards, as well as a win for writer Scott Cameron awarded with publication through Write For The Stage.
